CONSULTATION

Navigating in a diverse community is all about discovery. There isn’t just one single strategy that businesses, agencies, or organizations can use to maximize their success. At COMPASS, we are committed to helping you grow by encouraging multiculturalism. We offer several services that can help you achieve that goal:

"We hired COMPASS to provide cultural competence training to our volunteers. The overall experience was excellent. The presenter’s passion, enthusiasm, and knowledge dispelled the myths about the refugee population and helped volunteers gain compassion and understanding of this very underserved but very deserving group of people. Our business is eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for ALL people. Their presentation helped us move closer to our mission. I would definitely recommend COMPASS to my colleagues – I want everyone to realize what a wonderful opportunity we have to experience new cultures and meet amazing people."
~ Linda Czerkies, Executive Director, YWCA of the Mohawk Valley

Are you new to the world of multiculturalism and wondering how you can move forward and learn more? Consider using the consultation services available through COMPASS.

Cultural Competence (CC) is defined as a set of congruent behaviors, attitudes, and policies that come together in a system, agency, or among professionals and enables that system, agency or those professionals to work effectively in cross-cultural situations (Cross et al., 1989; Isaacs & Benjamin, 1991).

Organizations have a culture of policies, procedures, programs, and processes and incorporate certain values, beliefs, assumptions, and rituals. Organizational cultures echo mainstream culture (the dominant culture) as far as time orientation, perception and use of time (among others). An organizational culture might not take into consideration every culture represented on staff, so that’s where skill building comes in.

A CC organization will not only bring together knowledge, awareness, and sensitivity but will also transform them into policies, practices, standards, behaviors that make everything work.

Whether you are selling a product or providing services, effective delivery of your product to a culturally diverse community requires careful attention to language, messaging, and relationships. Let our professional COMPASS team and our collective wisdom from years of experience working with diverse communities and working abroad help you shape your message and establish key relationships.

To effectively recruit and retain a culturally diverse workforce requires careful attention to detail.  Let our professional COMPASS team review your policies and procedures for culturally appropriate nuances that impact your workplace.

COMPASS will meet with you and help you thoroughly analyze your needs. We’ll provide an assessment of your current situation and then identify the directions that are right for you.

For more information on our consultation services, please contact us. We’ll point you in the right direction, and help you every step of the way.
